Interests: I'm interested in seeing the philosophical interplay between the various religious and political aspects of Thedas when juxoposed against Obi-Wan's quasi-scientific mysticism and staunch democratic leanings. That's my primary draw. Additionally, I very much enjoy reading character's reactions to the ridiculousness of common items obi-wan might have on his person (like a lightsaber or powdered ration portions) Also, there might be shipping! I'm shipping garbage. It's a thing.

Star Wars is a galaxy and generation-spanning space opera, the classic tale of epic space good versus epic space evil. The main story follows the barely comprehensible drama of four generations of the Skywalker family (and the sad sacks who end up befriending them for some reason) and the ways that their various shitfits and philosophically resonant ass-kickings, both dealt and recieved, alter the course of history in the galaxy far far away. In the service of various enormous and often poorly defined governments we find the Jedi Order, a semi-monatic group of science fantasy space mystics with cool powers, radical bathrobes, and badass laser swords. They use their sick kick-flips and bodacious ninja skills to maintain order, in theory, stability sort of, and rightfully elected governments when it is convenient. Did I meantion the politics? There's some political rhetoric in there too.

History
Obi-Wan Kenobi on Wookiepedia.
Obi-Wan Kenobi joined the Jedi Order as a very young child. He experienced an extended junior apprenticeship before being apprenticed to the late Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. His youth was relatively tumultuous, involving several points where he very nearly left the Jedi Order for good, fell in love, became a freedom fighter, nearly became a professional fighter pilot, and in the end learned some valuable lessons about compassion and personal dedication to duty. He achieved the rank of Knight by winning a duel with a Sith-- the first Jedi to do so in a very long time, thanks both to the secretive nature of the Sith, and his own extraordinary dueling skills.
In deference to his master's promise, Obi-Wan took on as a Jedi apprentice one Anakin Skywalker despite said moppet's age disqualifying him from the position. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
As Anakin's training progressed, eventually past Obi-Wan's direct tutelage and into his own knighthood, Obi-Wan was pressed into service as a general in a the titular clone-based war(s). He now runs around doing spy shit and ordering clones around, which is working out pretty well for him because unlike the Skywalker-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, he actually has a decent grasp of group tactics. According to the timeline, in a couple of years Episode III is going to happen which, is just going to be just... Just wonderful. It's going to be great guys, I can't wait. Nothing could go wrong. oh god why this
Personality
Charming, witty and a little self-defeatist, Obi-Wan Kenobi is a diplomatic general on a mission of peace in a time of war. Dedicated to his duty and philosophies, Obi-Wan practices a defensive stance in most interactions, from the sharp-tongued verbal sparring he takes part in with his former Padawan and occasional partner, Anakin Skywalker, to tactical choices in Lightsaber combat. As a Jedi Master, he holds to the teachings common to all of those order, favoring balance and stability. Calm in the face of nearly any surprise, he takes the strangeness of the world in stride, exhibiting a thoughtful, adaptive acceptance of the situation in all but the most extreme circumstances.
He's a bit like if the lawful good alignment were a person. He keeps promises he should probably have broken, despite all manner of personal and professional detriment, even up to the point where it's patently obvious that everything has gone to hell. He woos all manner of diplomatic presences with his wit and charm, is an excellent pilot, and is racist towards robots.
Although he is a professed realist, there is a core of optimism in Obi-Wan that often leads him to see hope where there is none. While this is an excellent coping mechanism, and sometimes very valuable in so desperate a martial struggle as the one he is engaged in as general and Jedi ambassador, it often leads Obi-Wan to trust or attempt to reconcile with people who are either incapable or unwilling to receive it. For example, Assaj Ventress, Sith assassin, why does he keep letting her go. Patient, diligent, stubborn and kind, Obi-Wan can still be a bit of a stick in the mud, and when his patience turns to mulishness, he can make his own mistakes as clear and unrelentingly as Anakin's. He often follows the path of prudence and caution over justice or courage, sometimes to ruin, and has a tendency to lecture and nag that can annoy his students— and anyone else, in range.
He is, in a word, a Good Person. He protects the weak, deflects insults with good humor, he nominally kills only in defense, and does so while giving his enemies every chance to alter their circumstances and resolve the conflict peacefully. He is pragmatic by habit, but at his most fundamental levels, Obi-wan is an idealist who believes in people, in democracy, in the ability of rehabilitation and kindness to transform the evil in a person's soul. But then, he would, because Anakin Skywalker is his best bro and closest friend in the world.
Or, to put it more succinctly:

Strengths & Weaknesses
• Strengths labeled with a black dot
◦ Weaknesses labeled with a white dot
The Force
Limited Prescience
• useful for catching unpredictable projectiles with your sword
• sometimes you can anticipate random plot-ambushes in time to not die
◦ that horrible feeling of dread which builds narrative tension
◦ mostly just super annoying/distracting all the time
◦ it's like if the spidey-sense were trying to guilt
Telekinesis
• You can move shit with your mind. Some of it is quite heavy.
• You can use it to augment your jumps and pull off some ridiculous moves.
◦ Necessary for delicate lightsaber repairs
◦ Kinda freaks people out when you use it too casually
Telepathy/Empathy
• Force-suggest is really cool.
• Can in effect cut to Krillin to ascertain the dramatic weight of a death/deaths
• Help animals be chill wit' you.
◦ People really do not like it when you read their minds/emotions
◦ Which he is obviously going to casually do all the time.
• (with the mun's OOC permission of course)
◦ And think nothing of it.
◦ Prepare the witchunt.
Personality
• Super nice and open to diverse types of people
• Great with animals
• diplomatic as heck
• always has a quip
• super honorable
◦ totally capable of doublethink
◦ can be super super patronizing
◦ racist against robots
◦ often happy to prop up corrupt governments so long as they seem stable
◦ kind of a stick in the mud
◦ chronic enabler of Anakin's bullshit, despite his constant complaining to the contrary
Arrival Inventory
‣ Lightsaber (blue)
‣ Pack of snacks because snacks (mostly just single ration portions, like a couple of granola bars-type deal? Powdered bread?)
‣ hand-held holographic communicator (probably won't have any bars)
‣ sweet jedi robes
‣ beard (amazing)
‣ clone trooper style shoulder pauldrons and gauntlets, which he is wearing over his robes (republic insignia)
Fit
I'm interested in seeing how people react to the various abilities and philosophies inherent to Obi-Wan's take on the Jedi Order. I'm also interested in the political drama, the way his wit and charm might interact and reflect off of various character's-- and their preconceptions of race, evil, magic, and aught else. Despite appearances, Obi-Wan's world is not really that different from this one; it's still a realm where a very few special people command the fulcrum upon which history turns, sword combat is still seen as a viable method of fighting, and there is magic and templars... of a sort.
Plus, what this conflict really needs is a guy whos abilities exactly straddle the Templar/Mage divide. I think that would absolutely calm folks down and not confuse anyone or incite any kind of strife or tension, I think that would be great.
Sample #1:
Obi-Wan on the TDM
Sample #2:
Breathe, inhale, count again.
It had taken Obi-Wan hours to find a place flat and open enough to do this in. He'd originally wanted an open rooftop or clearing, but in the end the most convenient opportunity was a clean-swept courtyard near what he'd privately begun to think of as the "North" end of this sector.
Step, turn back, begin again. Second form, faster now; breathe, inhale, and lift—
Comforting basics, he'd run this form a thousand times or more. He'd mastered it. There were no fancy moves, nor clever flourishes in this calm ballet. The Lightsaber hilt was warm and comforting in his hand; familiar design, familiar grip, the plasma-hum a constant stream of nostalgia near his ear as Obi-Wan whirled it again into the third stance, then the fourth.
Start again, faster, faster, the blade became an arc of light, blinding quick in time with hurried, open-mouthed breaths, less meditation now than a workout. One arm extended in a lunge— that was a touch of aggression, unneeded, and he tamped it down. Calmer, slower, hold and block, like to shadowboxing as the Jedi ran through the exercise, imagining with eyes closed a barrage of enemies and blaster-fire against a lone man and a beam of trapped power. The mock-fight cusped and faded, and in the wake left peace. This was the will of the Force glowing bright within him, re-centered and ready to face whatever the universe threw into his path. If he wasn't meant to be here, then he wouldn't have been. Whatever else may be happening, he must be able to do some good in this place, have some purpose. That was his duty, as a Jedi Master, as a tool and expression of the Force within all things.
And he opened his eyes, briefly stern, then smiled at the audience he seemed to have acquired. Obi-Wan met their startled expression with a warm chuckle and a smile as the hissing crackle of a deactivating Lightsaber punctuated his meditation exercise, "Hello, there. See something that interests you?"
